Restoring soils naturally
Worm castings - putting the magic, the biology, back into our soils.
Worm castings—often called “black gold” by gardeners—are the rich, natural material created as worms break down organic matter. As food passes through a worm’s gut, it’s transformed into a nutrient-dense soil amendment full of beneficial microbes, organic matter, and plant-available nutrients. These microbes help unlock key elements like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and trace minerals, making them easier for plants to absorb. Worm castings also add humus to the soils (sponge-like material, “fluffy” soil with pores for water and nutrients to bond), 3 essential natural plant growth hormones, and enzymes.
The result is a gentle, living “fertilizer, ” a natural soil amendment, that breaths life back into your soils. This amendment improves soil structure, increases water retention, supports strong root development, and enhances nutrient uptake. Gardens amended with worm castings often see improved plant vigor, higher yields, better flavor, and greater resilience to stress and disease—all while building healthier soil over time.
With the “black gold,” there is no longer a need for chemical fertilizers. The worm castings naturally provide the nutrients your plants need to flourish.
What are worm castings?
We understand the true power of worm castings lies in the living biology within them. That’s why we treat our microbes like the tiny partners they are—nurturing and protecting them from harvest to your garden. Our castings are packaged in breathable cardboard boxes with a built-in moisture cell, providing airflow, food, and humidity so beneficial microbes stay alive and active. Each box is date-stamped and rotated out of stores before 45 days to ensure peak freshness.
Many worm castings are sold in sealed plastic bags where airflow is limited and microbes decline over time—sometimes sitting on shelves for months. While those products may still resemble rich soil, much or all of the living biology that makes worm castings special can be lost completely. The microbes suffocate or starve due to lack of food sources.
By prioritizing buying local, you are guaranteeing your microbes have not gotten too hot or too cold on its way to your local store. Freshness, oxygen, and microbial care are a top priority for us. We deliver worm castings that remain alive and active —so your soil, plants, and harvests can fully benefit.
